Recent Product Recall 2018 in Texas

This year been filled with multiple product recalls by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Unfortunately, many of these recalls have been affecting Texas products. Recent months alone have seen multiple products recalls. Here is a list of some products that should should look in your pantry for.

Amaranth Organic Whole Grain Flour

Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods, Inc., recalled its Amaranth organic whole grain flour because of possible contamination by salmonella. In addition to Texas, this recall also affected multiple other states and distribution in Mexico. It is ongoing.

Signature Care Calcium Chews Dietary Supplement

Bestco, Inc., recalled its Signature Care Calcium Chews supplements because of mislabeled packaging. The labels incorrectly listed the level of Vitamin D at 25 mcg, when the product contains 12.5 mcg. The cause of the mislabeling was a lack of proper revisions. The recall was nationwide.

GFS Belgian Mini Chocolate Topped Eclairs

Poppies International, Inc., recalled its frozen Belgian Mini Chocolate Topped Eclairs for possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. This recall affects the entire country and is ongoing.

Precise Food Roast Beef Gravy Seasoning

Precise Food Ingredients, Inc., recalled its Roast Beef Gravy Seasoning because of the possibility of salmonella contamination. The recall was focused on Texas and lasted from March through May.

Diet Pepsi (12 oz.)

Pepsi Beverage Co. recalled its 12 oz. Diet Pepsi cans from March through July. The recalled products listed the artificial sweetener sucralose in the ingredients, when the correct item was aspartame.

Natural Grocers Organic Coconut Smiles (10 oz.)

Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage recalled its Organic Coconut Smiles product because testing was positive for salmonella. This recall is ongoing and affects all Natural Grocer stores nationwide.

Southgate Hot Dog Chili Sauce

Vietti Acquisitions, LLC, recalled its Southgate Hot Dog Chili Sauce because of inaccurate allergen labeling. The product contains both egg and wheat, neither of which are on the label. The recall is still ongoing in Texas and several other states.

IDLife Bars

IDLife, LLC recalled several of its products: Chocolate and Peanut Butter Protein Bar, Chocolate and Mixed Berry Kids Bar, and Chocolate and Almond Snack Bar. All products had improper allergen labeling for nuts. These recalls ran from March to early September.

Nueske’s Braised Pork Medallions and Shanks

Nueske’s Meat Products, Inc., recalled both its Braised Pork Medallions and Shanks due to incorrect product labels. The labels do not list the ingredients brown rice flour and glycerin due to an internal miscommunication.

People’s Sausage Jerky and Meat Stick Products

People’s Sausage Co., recalled several of its jerky and meat stick products. The company had produced these items without receiving an approved voluntary grant of inspection.

Land O’Frost Premium Old World Style Black Forest Ham

Land O’Frost, Inc., recalled its Old World Style Black Forest Ham products because of improper labeling. While the front side of the package correctly lists ham, the back instead lists “honey smoked turkey breast.”

Margarita Manteca Pork Lard

The Quay Corporation recalled its 28 oz. Margarita Manteca Pork Lard. The company had produced the items without the federal inspection prior to sale.

Green Field Farms Rogers Texas Ground Beef

Texas Natural Meats recalled its Green Field Farms Rogers Texas Ground Beef frozen meat products because of contamination from E. coli.

HEB Texas Heritage Sausage Smoked with Natural Hardwood Beef Brisket

J Bar B Foods recalled its HEB Texas Heritage Sausage Smoked with Natural Hardwood Beef Brisket because of improper allergen labeling. The products contain pork casing, which can cause negative reactions in some individuals.
